ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Future of Claridon Zoning We are in the process of revamping our Zoning Regulations. They are in need of repair. Our goal is to find the delicate balance of property owner's rights while keeping Claridon semi-rural and keeping the peace between neighbors. If you are interested in being a part of this important effort, please contact Jonathan Tiber soon. First Energy Pre-Flight NotificationFirst Energy notified us of that Chesapeake Bay Helicopters has mobilized to The Illuminating Company region to begin performing comprehensive visual inspections (CVIs) on all Illuminating Company 138kV lines. These inspections are expected to take approximately five to six weeks to complete, however, any storm or outage-related patrols could prolong completion. A comprehensive visual inspection (CVI) is a slow, structure-by-structure, span-by-span inspection where the inspector onboard the helicopter gets a thorough look from top to bottom of each structure, associated hardware, and conductors of the transmission line(s). The helicopter will be moving very slowly along each of the transmission lines and will often be seen hovering while carrying out these inspections. Click her to see a picture of the helicopter.
It should be noted that the contractor has been authorized to patrol the transmission circuits in their entirety (i.e. "breaker-to-breaker"), so patrols on certain lines may therefore extend into the neighboring regions. The flight crew will provide information on their daily location to any local airports when in their airspace. Here is a picture of the helicopter which includes the tail number.
Claridonite Named New Chief Claridon's own Justin Geiss was named the new Fire Chief for the Chardon Fire Deparment. The department protects and serves over 50 percent of our township. Chief Geiss has attended several town meetings keeping us up to date on the latest calls. Justin is preceeded by former Chief Larry Gasper. Mr. Gasper has stepped down and will now assume the roll of Assistant Chief. Larry served at the helm for 24 years and set a solid foundational standard for the department. We're thankful for his service to our community. We are glad he has decided to stay in the department. We know Chief Geiss will perform his duties diligently, thouroughly and intentionally. He's the right person for the job and we very much looking forward to working with him. Geauga Hospital Partners with Claridon for New Street Light Installation There will be a new street light to illuminate the intersection of Aquilla road and Ravenwood drive. This intersection is used more than ever as not only is it hospital, library and various county agency access but is now access to the recycle center and the new Geauga County Building. It is a dark intersection...but not for long. When Geauga Hospital found out Claridon was considering a street light there, they jumped at the chance to collaberate with their home township and offered to pay for half the installation cost. That is a $838.24 donation and $838.24 savings to our budget. Trustee Jonathan Tiber sent a thank you letter to the Hospital's C.O.O., Mr. Jason Glowczewski and the Relations Development Officer, Mr. William Rice. Glad to be the home township to Geauga Hospital. Recycle Center Recycle Center is located at 12685 Merritt road in Claridon. This facility ismanaged by the Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste District. This location allows 24/7 self-drop off hours and, on specific days of the week, they accept electronics, appliances (with or without freon), hazerdous material and more. Click here for more detailed information. Claridon Businesses Whether or not your business is located in Claridon, if you are a Claridon resident that owns a business, contact trustee Jonathan Tiber.
